A patient choosing a clinician is making a decision with very little information: a name, a specialism, a next available slot and a photograph. The photograph does more work than anyone expects, because it is the only part that speaks to whether this person will be easy to talk to. That puts a specific demand on the format: it has to be current, warm and unambiguous, and it has to look the same as the one next to it so the choice is about care rather than image quality.

The register for a clinical portrait sits between two failures. Too formal and it reads as institutional, which does not help a patient who is already nervous; too casual and it undercuts the expertise the page is trying to convey.

Consent that belongs to the clinician
Clinicians are careful about how their image is used, and rightly so. Nothing moves until the clinician has accepted the consent wording themselves, and the exact version they agreed to is filed with it, so an amended text puts the question again.
The practice never handles the source selfies, which disappear when the retention period runs out. A clinician who wants their record gone asks from their own invite page and receives written confirmation, whether or not they still work at the practice.

Frequently asked questions
Can clinicians appear in their own clothing?
The outfits available come from the style the organisation chooses before inviting anyone, so a practice picks the combination that reflects how its clinicians actually present and everyone is generated inside it.
Can a clinician decline to take part?
Yes. Nothing happens until they accept the consent text and upload selfies themselves, so declining simply means not doing so. Nobody is generated on their behalf and no credit is spent.
How do the photos reach our booking system?
Either pull the archive, folders by clinician with a manifest, or read it through the JSON API, which enumerates members and returns their images and branded picture. Signed webhooks announce a set the moment it is finished.
What does it cost per clinician?
One credit per clinician: $39, and a practice buying for the whole rota at once is already past the first threshold at five credits. Twenty-five takes it to 30%, one hundred to 40%.
