Pages that outsiders read closely
A board list, a research team, the partners of a firm, the people behind a foundation: in Rome a great deal of work is awarded on the strength of who is visibly involved. When those portraits come from four different years and four different cameras, the page reads as an assembly of individuals rather than as one organisation, which is the opposite of the point.

Between the centre, the EUR and home
Organisations here are often split by geography before they are split by department: a registered office in the centre, operations somewhere with parking, staff seconded to a client or a ministry, and a hybrid pattern on top.
Invitations go out by email, or through one open link limited to the organisation’s own domain, and a person completes their part in the ten minutes before a meeting starts. Nobody moves, nobody creates an account and nobody installs anything. A colleague permanently based at a client site ends up with photographs identical in treatment to those of the people at headquarters.

One file for the intranet, not forty emails
When the photographs exist, someone still has to put them somewhere: a public site, a staff directory, the HR system, a press kit. The organisation download is a single archive holding a folder per person plus a manifest that lists what is inside, which turns loading a directory into one import instead of a fortnight of forwarded attachments.
Where the organisation has defined a brand template, every eligible portrait is also produced as a branded profile picture at two sizes, so the internal avatars match the public page without anybody opening an image editor.

Frequently asked questions
Some of our staff have no company phone. Is that a problem?
It is not. People take their selfies on whatever phone they already carry, and nothing is installed on it. The invitation is a web link that works in the browser they use every day, and the only thing they need to have with them is themselves.
What if somebody would rather not take part?
Then they do not, and no credit is spent on them. Nobody is photographed without accepting a consent text first, that acceptance is filed against the version of the text it refers to, and anyone who changes their mind later deletes their own material from the private page in their invitation, with written confirmation.
Can two departments have different styles?
One organisation carries one style, which is what makes the whole directory hold together. An organisation that genuinely needs two visual treatments creates two organisations, each with its own style, its own people and its own download. Most choose one and let it apply to everybody, including the people who join months later.
Where do the uploaded selfies end up?
They feed that one person’s generation and nothing else, and they are removed once their retention window closes. No image is reachable from a public address: every view passes through a signed URL with a short life, so a delivered gallery is not something a search engine can reach.
